Chuck Iwanusa Awarded Prestigious Pathways to Jazz Grant for Jazz Orchestra Recording Project

I am thrilled and honored to announce that I have been awarded a prestigious Pathways to Jazz grant.

Pathways To Jazz, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, began in 2014 when founder Alan Cogen, with the support of Program Manager Sarah Goodroad and the Boulder County Arts Alliance, created a grant program to provide funding for exceptional jazz musicians to create new, recorded works. Recordings are a key component in documenting and preserving jazz music. A high-quality recording also increases an artist's ability to reach new audiences for this art form. Since its inception, Pathways To Jazz has awarded grants to 116 artists, recognizing the immense value of recorded music in shaping artistic journeys.

"Receiving this Pathways to Jazz grant is a significant step toward realizing my lifelong dream of recording my work for a jazz orchestra," Iwanusa shared. "Together Again for the First Time is the culmination of my 53-year musical journey. It brings together a 17-piece dream orchestra of internationally acclaimed musicians—including vital, enduring collaborators like Tim Hagans and Rich Perry, whom I’ve known for over 50 years, and Rufus Reid for over 30—to record my award-winning compositions and commissions this summer at the iconic Sear Sound studios in New York City."
